What we say...
Tech:
A low CG, high MOI and deep cavity back make the Predator a long and forgiving iron. Progressive offset throughout the set offers extra help getting the long irons airborne but without losing control in the shorter clubs.
Our verdict:
For anyone looking to get into the game a £199 for a set of irons has to represent decent value for money, so there’s definitely a place for the Predator. But we reckon for the serious golfer who’s probably a club member playing on a weekly basis there’s not too much of interest here. The head doesn’t boast of any serious ball speed or extra forgiveness tech which limits its potential. Yes overall it’s a reasonable looking head, with the hint of a Callaway X-14 from years ago, but as an overall package we find it difficult to recommend after posting numbers just below our test averages.
Bottom line:
Lynx have made a comeback over the last few years and they’re equipment is on the up and up. Pick your products wisely and you’ll get a solid performing product for a reasonable amount of money, on that basis we reckon there’s better out there than the Predator.
