What we say...
The new Honma TW757 B, Vx and P irons combine Japanese craftsmanship with a Tour-inspired design in a bid to satisfy the demands of all competitive players. But which best suits you? Lets find out…
Honma Japanese forged irons have made massive strides into the western world over recent years. Part of that evolution has come about thanks to the brands long term strategy to be just as much a part of the forged iron conversation as Mizuno, Srixon and other major equipment manufacturers.
And, from what we’ve seen during TG test sessions the company are more than justified in their thinking. We’ve seen first-hand that the best Honma irons can challenge the best golf irons.
If there’s been a slight fly in the ointment it’s how things haven’t worked out quite as the brand would have wanted on tour (Honma signed then World #1 Justin Rose before the pair fell out and split company). But, Honma reckon their finger’s on the pulse identifying the right tour player to align the company’s high quality reputation with, so don’t be thinking Honma are backing away from the tour any time soon.
The brands award winning T//World TR20 forged iron family are now two years old, which means Honma’s clever Japanese craftsmen have been beavering away on their replacements, and they’re now ready to reveal three new designs, the TW757 B, Vx and P.

What you need to know about the Honma TW757 B iron
The new TW757 iron family consists of three models, with the TW757 B billed as a new generation blade.
Unusually for a muscleback the new B has a cast not forged construction (it’s cast from 8620 steel like a lot of modern tour level wedges), but say Honma not to expect a firmer feel, less control or unattractive sound. And that’s because there’s tungsten toe weights and a built-in resin component (in the 3 – 7 iron ) which absorbs vibration and improves dispersion.
Like all blades the 757 B has a supremely clean look, and great ball strikers can expect brilliant ball flight control with maximum shot-shaping capability.

What you need to know about the Honma TW757 Vx iron
The new TW757 Vx is very much a tour level players’ iron. The head is forged from S20C carbon steel and we like how Honma say thanks to a lighter heel and 7g of tungsten toe weight (4 – 8 iron) the heads centre of gravity is further from the shaft.
The idea means it’s easier to hit straighter shots more often, which isn’t the typical setup of a players’ iron. Honma say the model strikes an excellent blend between feel and distance, with a good degree of shot shaping potential.

What you need to know about the Honma TW757 P iron
The two previous generations of Honma ‘P’ irons have stood out for us over the last half decade. And, like its predecessors, the new TW757 P, is cast from 17-4 steel.
An undercut cavity back and thin variable thickness face along with stronger lofts mean the model is well equipped to perform within the players’ distance iron category. See the P as an alternative to Ping’s i525, TaylorMade’s P790 and Srixon’s ZX5 and you really will be thinking along the right tracks.
Honma say a combination of tungsten sole and toe weights ensure the model generates a high shot trajectory and remains playable despite the stronger lofts.
