What we say...

The Tech:

A tour inspired set of muscle and cavity back forged irons. 1025 carbon steel heads ensure great feel, there’s also CNC milled faces and grooves for precision shot-making and tungsten toe weighting to position the centre of gravity right in the centre of the face.

Our verdict:

Cobra unashamedly say the King’s have been developed for their tour players and are likely to suit pro’s to 2 handicappers. We’d certainly agree with that assessment as their heads are tiny with super slim soles and thinned out top-edges. Our test pro as much as he liked the flow from Muscle Back short irons to Cavity Back long irons thought they were an intimidating set to hit consistently well. Looking at the data the stats actually show the drop off in ball speed and carry distance are better than average which is quite incredible. But good consistent ball striking is all about confidence, which the King’s didn’t exactly have us brimming over with.

Bottom line:

A classic blade (in the short irons) in every sense, the addition of tungsten toe weighting means the CG locations are in the centre of each face which does increase impact efficiency. Cosmetically a beautiful set, we just wish we were good enough to use them.
