The look of this club might suggest that the CG7 Black Pearl beauties wouldn’t be that forgiving. They are certainly sleek, but this was at no detriment to the performance – something we loved! Our team rated them highly in the feel stakes too, which is thanks to the Gelback technology that Cleveland have developed. Essentially, it quietens vibrations on the entire face, even in the extremities of the club. As you would expect from a gameimprover iron, the CG7s feature a low centre of gravity to give you that allimportant higher ball trajectory and, according to the manufacturer, the clubs also boast an MOI that is 6% higher than traditional irons in this category. Colin announced that these were his favourite on test and said that he loved the look of the zip-grooves on the head. Craig immediately thought that the slightly more compact head might mean a lack of forgiveness, but our man would have nailed 6-irons all day had time allowed. And finally to our smooth-swinging pro Alex, who said it felt great for a game-improver club and commented that the smaller head would
appeal to better players too. Stats-wise, the CG7s turned in a brilliant performance too, with only distance letting it down marginally.But where it mattered, in the dispersion and forgiveness stakes, it proved itself to be a worthy champion in what is traditionally the most difficult category of irons to win, simply because there are so many excellent options out there.
