What we say...

2013 Irons Test

Across the board testers were surprised at how thick the top edge is for a better player model. James said he would use these in his mid to long irons given the larger look and higher flight. Kit and Joel noted how easy they were to hit but struggled to shape the ball easily. James was surprised by the sound at impact, but said it felt very powerful and stable. James and Joel averaged 171 yards, Kit 155 yards. James’ dispersion was just one yard.

Cleveland's new 588 Rotex (RTX) series has been launched three sets of 588 irons and two types of wedges.

While the wedges may grab the headlines, the three sets of irons are just as exciting.

Cleveland’s 588 TT enhances workability. It is crafted to generate a more penetrative ball flight compared to the other two models. The undercut cavity is designed to deliver control, as well as the workability demanded by the more skilled golfer.

These irons will suit consistent ball strikers, but the undercut cavity will also offer a solid level of forgiveness for those off-centre strikes. They should also deliver a more penetrating ball flight and added control and workability.

One thing that we absolutely love about this new 588 family is that you can interchange the irons – so essentially you can have the Altitude irons in the longer clubs, the MT in the mid-irons and the TT in the shorter clubs.

That means forgiveness, control and workability in your set make-up.

My local golf pro told me to try these irons, they are absolutely brilliant ! long and straight, look lovely behind the ball, a very underestimated brand a must try. I play off 9 and have tried all the major brands these are as good as anything out there.

I have had these for 3 weeks and compared to my old semi blades they give so much more confidence. Even off centre shots seem to go straight, I am now back to enjoying playing and look forward to every game. 14 H/C.

I was fitted for a set of 588 TT's back in September 2013 having taken up golf in the June & all I can say is wow! I had been using a 2nd hand set of MD ST2's which I have to say were solid & for £60 perfect for a beginner but these are just longer, higher & straighter & make the game so much more enjoyable. I got them with KBS shafts, 1/2 inch longer, bigger grips etc & have to say the guys from Cleveland were fantastic. I also bought the MT 3 iron which is just awesome off the tee & good for 200 yds easy. 8 & 9 irons seem to get really high but along with the PW they stop dead when landing on the green. I've tried TM Burners, Ping G25's, Callaway, Wilson's etc but the Cleveland's just work for me. Handicap down to 20 which for playing less than a year isn't to bad & the clubs have played a massive part (plus lessons). For me these are a GI iron & a superb one at that, don't be seduced by a sexier brand without hitting these first.
