What we say...

2013 Irons Test

James noted the long and rectangular head shape. Joel enjoyed the contrast between the grooves and face extremities. All testers felt it was large for this category with a wide top line. Chris thought this was one of the more forgiving irons in the category with his mis-hits holding their line and not losing too much distance. This was also one of the longer clubs for all testers; James averaged 180 yards, Kit 161 yards.

Cleveland's new 588 Rotex (RTX) series has been launched three sets of 588 irons and two types of wedges.

While the wedges may grab the headlines, the three sets of irons are just as exciting.

The 588 MT is all about control. This iron also has a forged face but the CG is positioned in a more neutral place in the clubhead. The hollow iron construction still ensures plenty of forgiveness as well as control.

A vibration-dampening insert also helps deliver good feel in what is essentially an iron for the game-improver seeking length through a mid trajectory.

One thing that we absolutely love about this new 588 family is that you can interchange the irons – so essentially you can have the Altitude irons in the longer clubs, the MT in the mid-irons and the TT in the shorter clubs.

That means forgiveness, control and workability in your set make-up.
