What we say...
Tech:
Designed for players needing power, accuracy and a confidence inspiring look at address. A carpenter 455 maraging steel face maximises face flex for higher ball speed and distance, while a lightweight 49g shaft ensures you generate maximum club speed.
Our verdict:
We struggled to get along with Wilson’s D200 drivers and hybrids and unfortunately our feelings flowed through to the fairway woods too. We completely understand the lightweight theory and yes it makes sense, but in practice we just struggled to “time” shots with such a lightweight shaft. The difference between the Wilson and other models using lightweight shafts is the others have gone counter-balanced so the heads heavier which we found much easier to get along with than just out-and-out lightweight tech.
Bottom line:
Looking at the data the D200 carried shots comfortably over the average of all the fairways we tested. But all testers found it difficult to hit consistently well, which has to mean it’s difficult to recommend to the golfing masses.
