Titleist TSi2 and TSi3 Fairway Woods Review

The new Titleist TSi2 and TSi3 fairways have a new aerodynamic shape and a channel behind the golf club’s face for more flex, higher launch, lower spin, faster ball speeds and more consistency.

Two years on from their TS (Titleist Speed) fairways, Titleist have launched the TSi2 and TSi3 – ‘i’ describing the impact, innovation, and inertia you’ll find in the new models.

The TSi2 and TSi3 fairway woods are speed-tuned to get the clubhead moving faster than ever and provide more distance across the face and are among the best fairway woods available.

Titleist say TSi’s speed is thanks to key innovations, including an improved fourth-generation Active Recoil Channel (ARC) behind the face. ARC 4.0 features a shorter channel wall, which provides more face flex, a higher launch, lower (and more consistent) spin, and increased ball speed.

The fairways have a high-speed VFT face which works with ARC 4.0 to maximize ball speed and forgiveness across the face, while the more compact design has seen five grams of weight redistributed to boost MOI and create a fast, stable, and forgiving clubhead.

As with the TSi drivers, a high-contrast graphic face design makes alignment a breeze, while the softer toe profile requested by Titleist’s tour pros also moves into the fairway woods and gives a square look at address.

A SureFit hosel provides 16 independent loft and lie settings, while an adjustable headweight (in two-gram increments, ranging from -4g to 4g) lets you create the ideal and consistent ball flight for your game.

Since their September introduction more than 100 players have switched into the TSi fairways, including Cameron Smith, Ian Poulter, Ben An, Lanto Griffin, Charles Howell III, Will Zalatoris, Bill Haas, and Jimmy Walker.

Titleist are expected to add further models to the TSi line in the coming months. TSi4 has already been seen on the USGA Conforming List and in the bag of at least one PGA Tour pro and, while Titleist are yet to confirm a TSi1, we fully expect to see such a model aimed at golfers with slower swing speeds.

Which Titleist TSi fairway wood is right for me?

Titleist TSi2

As with the TSi2 drivers, the fairway wood is a modern-shaped club aimed at players who want to launch it high with maximum forgiveness. TSi2 provides speed and accuracy across the clubface along with maximum distance and forgiveness thanks to a deeper and lower fixed center of gravity. There’s also an adjustable swing weight, along with the SureFit hosel, to enable the club to be perfectly fitted for your needs.

Titleist TSi3

TSi3 has a smaller profile with a deeper face. It targets consistent ball-strikers who want to be able to work the ball and have precise control over the center of gravity placement.

Titleist’s three-setting SureFit CG Track allows the fairway wood’s CG to be easily moved from neutral to a toe or heel bias for fine-tuned performance. The upgraded track design allows the 12g weight to disappear into the sole of the club after adjustment.

Verdict: Titleist TSi3 Fairway Wood

We very rarely recommend ‘players’-style fairway woods. But the TSi3 performed very well. Our 2021 Fairway Wood Test data has it down as our joint fourth-longest fairway (tied with the Cobra RAD Speed Big Tour) of the year.

It didn’t rip up any trees in terms of ball speed protection,  but for proper players, the ability to dial in shot shape with a movable sole weight might well be the deciding factor in any TSi3 purchase, especially as there are just so few options out there.

What are the Titleist TSi fairway wood shaft options?

The featured shaft line-up includes four new aftermarket models – KURO KAGE Black DC (High launch, mid spin), TENSEI AV Series Blue Raw (Mid launch and spin), HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX (Low/mid launch and spin) and TENSEI AV Series White Raw (Low launch and spin)

For an additional £170 you can add one of three premium shafts from Graphite Design. The Graphite Design Tour AD DI, Graphite Design Tour AD IZ, and Graphite Design Tour AD XC (Xtra Carry) are engineered with aerospace-quality carbon-fiber materials for incredible stability, consistency, and feel and are among the most coveted shafts on Tour.

What about the Titleist TSi grip and headcovers?

The grip is the Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 grey flat cap, which is designed for adjustable drivers, fairway woods, and hybrids. It features the popular look and feel of the Tour Velvet non-slip surface pattern in a 360-degree design, with double-dash rings on both ends for a consistent appearance regardless of shaft orientation or adjustments.

The headcovers are emblazoned with ‘TSi’ in a clean and stylish design using a black, white, grey and red colour combination.
