Srixon’s ZX fairway woods boast the same Rebound Frame technology as the brands ZX5 and ZX7 drivers, and they combine it with a brand new Cannon Sole design.

Srixon make no secret their focus has switched to decking out decent players with the equipment they desire. The thinking means the ZX Fairway specifically targets a fast, penetrating ball flight, and combines it with a really neutral head shape and face angle, which is just the sort of fairway wood set up modern pro’s and player’s expect.

Rebound Frame

The ZX fairway comes with a new rebound frame. Srixon say it provides a more efficient transfer of energy. It’s not just a new face though, it’s a whole new construction method. Two zones (the fairway face and body surrounding it) are specifically optimised to deform at impact and snap back, which Srixon say gives a more efficient transfer of energy than other driver designs.

Cannon Sole

Srixon say a new Cannon Sole helps achieve optimal weighting plus a faster, springier face. A floating weight pad is positioned just behind the face (but above the sole) and angled forward, Srixon say it resembles the shape of a cannon.

The tech helps increases face flex and optimises the centre of gravity to provide the ideal launch conditions for how skilled golfers like to launch fairway woods from the turf.

Crown Step

Srixon and sister company Cleveland have toyed with crown steps for quite a few years. Srixon say the tech moves the centre of gravity down and increases overall MOI, which gives extra launch right alongside added distance and extra forgiveness, for great shot to shot consistency.

Think of it like hitting shots higher from the turf with extra help keeping shots in play from the tee and you won’t go to far wrong.

Carbon Crown

Larger than the previous Z F85 fairway crown, the ZX fairways have carbon crowns in the 3W and 3W+. It means more mass low can be positioned low and deep and around the heads perimeter, which nudges MOI and forgiveness up.

Verdict: Srixon ZX Fairway Wood

In the hands of our faster swing speed test pro Srixon’s ZX family has utterly performed across the board over the last two years. So much so if you’re lucky enough to fall into the above average speed category your game is definitely in safe hands with the brand.

We like the ZX’s cute, almost triangular head shape and our test pro really liked the sound and feel. Whilst the ZX isn’t the most forgiving fairway (our pro’s test data shows that) it did put in a really solid distance performance against its peers (242 yds – 6^th longest, from 21 models). We can see why decent players who want to manipulate ball flight would really like this model in their bag.
