What we say...

Tech:

An extremely thin and light crown moves weight down for higher launch and less spin, to maximise distance. A covert cavity back spreads weight to the toe and heel to improve forgiveness and a FlyBeam structure creates a stable body and face structure to increase impact efficiency.

Our verdict:

A real strong looking fairway from Nike. We reckon with a deeper face and no alignment aid and how it launched and flighted shots amongst the lowest on test its tailored to the more confident golfer. That’s not to say it wouldn’t suit a wide audience of golfers its just we felt when standing over a difficult carry over water or sand the set up and appearance just wouldn’t generate as much confidence for us as some others on test. As far as data goes the Fly recorded a carry distance above average for all fairways tested and posted a similar above average ball speed to match.

Bottom line:

We can’t take anything away from the Fly, it’s in the bags of some of the top tour players in the world. But for us it’s on the edge of being a niche product thanks to its unfriendly, aggressive look and of course some will say its blue colour is a marmite choice.
