What we say...
The Nike SQ Dymo fairway wood was left trailing a little in the looks stakes but the SQ Dymo more than made up for its aesthetic shortcomings when it came to performance.
Its appearance divided opinion with Pro Chris and Kit both awarding it high marks while Chris N and George marking it down – although Chris N loved the face’s round alignment aid.
However, as Chris N said, “looks aren’t everything” and the Dymo went into overdrive when a golf ball was introduced to proceedings.
With its unique Quad-Keel sole, the clubhead has four separate quadrants to minimise turf interaction and make it easier to get the ball in the air from any lie.
This claim rang true with all the testers as they enjoyed hitting it from every situation. Pro Chris was very keen on the performance off the tee with a strong ball flight and comfortable feel while the others were amazed by the performance from the fairway and rough.
Chris N said he felt the clubhead did the majority of the work for him and found it difficult to misfire with the Dymo in his hands.
George wasn’t keen on the feel from the heavier clubhead but said it was brilliant from all lies while Kit enjoyed the penetrative flight and said it was the easiest to hit out of rough.
A US Open courtesy of Lucas Glover, a Claret Jug from Stewart Cink and now a TG ‘Best on Test’ Award. A great year for Nike…
