What we say...

Tech:

A compact fairway with zero CG which Cobra say increases both distance and forgiveness. A Spaceport weight in the sole delivers an extremely low and deep centre of gravity for increased forgiveness. A Speed Channel around the face maximises ball speed retention.

Our verdict:

Cobra promised radical performance from the Zero CG of the King Ltd driver which for whatever reason we didn’t quite feel, but that all changed with the fairway. Our test pro Chris Ryan was bowled over with the performance, loving the powerful feel, stability and excellent sound. Yes the head’s compact in size but everything’s in proportion and performance wise it certainly delivered for 2 out of 3 testers. Being the only fairway to break the 160mph ball speed barrier for our test pro is seriously impressive and by posting the joint best single carry distance the King is right at the top of the pile when it comes to fairway power.

Bottom line:

Seriously good performance for a fairway, we can’t say it’s all down to the Zero CG, but however Cobra have done it they’ve worked magic into the King’s head.
