What we say...
Cobra’s King F9 Speedback Fairway is the first of its kind to feature a CNC precision-milled Face
Cobra’s F9 Speedback Fairway Wood features the first CNC precision-milled face and delivers up to 2.5mph in increased ball speed, according to test results, compared to traditional hand-polished fairway faces.
Like the new Cobra King F9 Speedback driver, Speedback Technology in the Cobra King F9 Speedback fairway utilises a low, back tungsten weight and re-engineered Baffler rails that move the CG low and deep. The impact of this is an improved turf interaction, which in turn delivers more club and ball speed at impact.

How? The fixed 15g tungsten weight is positioned low and back promotes high, towering ball flights and maximum forgiveness. Meanwhile, progressive Baffler rail heights are designed shallower in the lower lofted fairways and steeper in the higher lofted fairways to account for varying attack angles.

A “360 Aero” polymer crown and sole trips positioned relative to the direction of airflow around the Cobra F9 Speedback Fairway’s clubhead further helps to reduce drag and increase club speed.
There’s also the ultra-lightweight carbon fibre crown which saves discretionary weight up high, to move the CG lower and deeper for higher launch with increased forgiveness, while the PWR Ridge crown designs add rigidity to the lightweight carbon crown structure to promote more energy return to the ball to maximise ball speed.
Cobra King F9 Speedback Fairway: TG Verdict
We’ve loved every Cobra F9 we’ve tested this year and the fairway is no exception. It has a brilliant midsize head, which looks the business at address. Where the King F9 driver pulled up trees in terms of ball speed and carry distance, the fairway wasn’t quite as powerful (10 yards back from our longest) but as we’ve already said you really shouldn’t pick a fairway based on numbers this year.
The adjustable hosel dials in extra lofts (and shot bias), and there’s a lovely choice of shafts, too. A fantastic all-rounder that won’t break the bank.
