What we say...
Today’s Golfer Fairway Wood Test 2011
Tested: August 2011
Testing panel:
Stuart Priestley (Belfry Pro)
Michael Gow (HCP 7)
David Connor (HCP 10)
Alan Doodson (HCP 17)
Our panel said this was one of the biggest heads on test but liked the unfussy design. Stuart said it was the perfect-looking club and performed brilliantly off turf and tee. Michael felt the head gave him confidence. David loved the performance but Alan couldn’t nail his ball flight so lost distance.
Distance: 3.8
Dispersion: 4.2
Looks: 3.9
Feel: 3.8
Forgiveness: 3.9
Tee: 4.1
Fairway: 3.6
The Launcher FL is more than 30g lighter than most other fairway woods on the market according to Cleveland and they say that equates to around 3mph clubhead speed and about 7-10 yards in distance which could make all the difference to your game. It comes complete with Tour-level Miyazaki C.Kua shaft as standard, which weighs in at just 43g and a 36g grip. The centre of gravity is low and deep as you would expect. Graeme McDowell has just put this in his bag, which tells you all you need to know.
