Yonex Nanospeed i Driver Review

The Yonex Nanospeed i Driver features an aero pentagon-shaped head with space-age looks which really appealed to one of our testers. Yonex have a reputation for quality composite heads and combined with a titanium sole and face, they’ve designed a cracking club that looks good and performs really well. If you like your drives to launch high and fly higher, this is worth a look.

Pro Verdict: Large head which gave me confidence at set-up. The club hits it really high so is ideal for low hitters looking to gain carry distance.

2009, Updated Model – Review

European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie has been playing Yonex gear for a while now, and the Nanospeed i seemed set to be an impressive offering. But our guys weren’t universally taken with it – Chris didn’t like the fact there was no alignment aid, while George wasn’t a fan of the tinny sound. But Jon liked the Aero-pentagon shaped head and felt it performed admirably.

Yonex say: To maximise the explosive head speeds generated by the Nanospeed 70+ shaft the Yonex R&D department have developed an Aero-Pentagon shaped head to ensure explosive drives are realised.  The Aero-pentagon shape reduces air resistance maintaining faster impact speeds and ensuring valuable stability through the ball strike for longer straighter drives. The weight saving Carbon graphite crown allows vital weight to be re-positioned further and deeper within the head for the optimum centre of gravity, ensuring the perfect launch angle for maximum distance off the tee.
