Technology
The new Tour Edge Exotics E8 driver comes in two versions to create different flights and spin rates to suit certain players. Both feature adjustable lofts and interchangeable sole weights.
In the standard 460cc E8, the centre of gravity is positioned low and forwards to generate faster ball speeds and a higher launch with less spin. It also features a low-profile design, which further aids players who struggle to launch the ball high.
A more compact 440cc Beta version uses a higher, more forward CG location to produce a more penetrating trajectory, increased ball speeds and less spin. Variable face thickness technology boosts forgiveness in the heel and toe areas.
A channel positioned behind the clubface in the sole is deeper than it was on the old XCG7, letting it flex more at impact. This “Power Grid” is aimed at further enhancing the club’s ability to produce lower spin and faster ball speed. A variable thickness face maximises the spring-like effect from more points on the face, especially in the heel and toe areas where amateurs miss most.
The loft on both drivers can be increased from 8.5 to 12 degrees in half-degree increments. As standard it comes with a 7-gram weight in the sole, but that can be changed via an optional three-piece weight kit (£29.99) containing 5g, 10g and 12g weights. The “Power Grid”, positioned behind the face, has been refined in both drivers, strengthening the design so the faces can be thinner for added flexibility and a more powerful launch.
