What we say...

The story behind the Ping G10 Driver is one of evolution not revolution. Technicians have spent hours studying how high MOI designs actually work. Their findings support the theory that high moi clubs don’t necessarily mean straighter drives. It remains fact that if shots are hit with an open or closed club face no matter what the moi you won’t get any help reducing side spin! Moi say the company “was a consideration when designing the new driver, but not to the extent of ignoring other crucial elements which make up our complete performance driver.” So by concentrating on whats important to golfers the company reckon they’ve developed a great sounding, cosmetically pleasing driver which delivers maximum distance and tons of forgiveness. If your wondering how it differs to the Ping G5, well its body is slightly wider, the face height is slightly taller which ultimately means the clubs centre of gravity is located a little lower and deeper meaning more forgiveness over Pings previous great drivers. And by increasing moi over the G5 golf driver you’ll also find drives hit off centre won’t lose as much ball speed meaning even miss hits go further.

When it comes down to the stats Ping tour players have found the Ping G10 an average of five yards longer than their current driver. While club golfers comparing the G10 and Ping G5 have experienced a four yard gain in carry distance and a 2 mph gain in ball speed. Whilst Ping’s robotic golfer who’s affectionately known as Ping Man carried drives an extra five yards with a significantly lower spin rate and higher launch angle. Which we agree all adds up to the G10 being a worthwhile addition.

Old vs New Driver Review: G400 MAX vs G30 vs G20 vs G10

Old vs New Ping Drivers2009, Updated Model – Review

A strong & forgiving
 all-rounder at a good price
Question: How does a driver that’s been around for a couple of years still get a top award in the TG Test? Answer: Because it’s top, top end. And quality lasts forever.
The G10 may not be as “fun” and “flashy” as some of the others on the test. For a start, you can’t adjust anything! But actually, if you went and got yourself fitted for one of these you might not need to tinker with your driver for some time.
The G10 was the follow-up to the hugely popular G5… which in turn was the follow-up to the hugely popular G2! It features a high MOI and so offers stability and forgiveness on off-centre hits; but it also has explosive power, with the result being that long, straight drives become that much more attainable. The sizeable, classy head shape also does at least its fair share of confidence-boosting.
The G10 is simply a great all-rounder. Chris perhaps summed it up perfectly as a product – “It ticks every box and is just the ultimate driver.”
Stats-wise, it excelled. Chris boomed it out to over 300 yards while Roy, who wasn’t as keen on the copper colour shaft as the others, found an impressive 269 yards of carry. George liked its conventional look and felt it was incredibly solid while Jon loved the confidence-inspiring look at address. But in building the G10, Ping may have given themselves a problem; how will they improve on what is quite clearly already a brilliant club?
Nevertheless, its all-round quality edged it to a Gold Award ahead of the other ‘four-star’ drivers.

  • 5 out of 5 The Holy Grail !!

    By Mr Hook

i started playing again in Jan this year, i have so far gone through 7 different drivers because i could not settle on one that i felt confident with, then i read the driver test in Todays golfer mag and saw the G10, thought i would give it a go and found a brand new one on jam golf for £150 so i want for it.   well i have never looked back, it gives me great confidence on the tee, hits the ball at least 10-20 yards further than anything else i have hit and most of the time the drives are straight too. all i can say is great piece of kit, so mush so i have since bought a G10 3 wood and full set of G10 irons too

  • 5 out of 5 Best Club I Ever Brought

    By SPONKER

Being playing golf for 26 years and this is the best club i have ever brought. Brought it at my local club through the Pro and got it for £139. Hit it 20 to 30 yards longer than my old Benross Driver

Awesome driver. Very easy to get on with. In my opinion its as good as anything else on the market at the minute, and certainly the Best Value at only £179.00 brand new in my area. Bought 10.5 with Grafalloy ProLaunch Red, and find it excellent, and refreshingly consistent.

Although I love my G2, I saw an 'ex dislay' G10 reduced to £170 in American Golf, and took the plunge, as it was 9 degree stiff, with the much praised Prolaunch RED shaft. First outing was not great, as I was trying to hammer it, but yesterdays round produced better results, with a few brilliant drives, in soggy conditions. I think the low trajectory will be brilliant if/when the course dries out, or on a links course. But the jury's still out for me, but will have no choice but to persevere! Anywan want to buy a great G2??

Awesome club. Got this at back end of last season. Moved from a Mizuno 12deg reg shaft to 10.5 deg stiff shaft G10. Added 20 yards at least to drives. Easy to hit and feels/looks beautiful behind the ball. Am looking forward to the new season and losing a few more strokes off the handicap.

Got fitted by Ping (thouroughly recommend it) and bought G10 12 deg driver with stiff shaft and G10 4 wood with stiff shaft - now I hit my driver long and consistent. Have been cut from 21 to 19 since getting them a month ago. The only thing stopping me giving 5 stars is the sound and feel aren't quite as satisfying compared to some more expensive clubs.

Got a 10.5 degree draw model with a regular shaft, and I love it . Better than my previous G5 model

  • 5 out of 5 WOW superb feel and awesome distance.

Picked up my new G10 driver earlier in the week. And wow what a club!. Got the 9 degree with a Prolaunch red stiff shaft. It gives me a strong mid height flight with a slight draw and the distance is superior to any club i have used recently. Although there does not appear to be that much difference in design to the G5 once you hit it you will realise what all the hype is about. In all I am very impressed and would recommend this club to any one low or high hadicap. Just make sure you get correctly fitted as there is a huge choice of options.

  • 3 out of 5 Nice looking club, improved head but poor shafts

    By lammysmgc

Had the chance to try the Ping G10 yesterday. First thing I noticed was the larger head size and the deeper face. Its going to give even more confidence to the amateur golfer when sat behind the ball at address. You feel you can't miss the ball. The deep face certainly means you won't sky it. The G10 reduces ball spin even further from the G5 Driver. Meaning mishit shots are more forgiving. The G10 also has a higher launch angle designed to get the ball soaring. This is probably a negative feature for the better golfers and the stronger hitters who report that Ping Drivers seem to Balloon. The stock shafts offered by Ping seem a bit weak. Being a long time Aldila NV and recently Vs Proto user am slightly frustrated that those shafts aren't offered now. All the stock shafts are seemingly designed to help lift the ball into the air. Again for better and stronger players this is a frustrating element. In my own personal test even the Extra-Stiff flexes of the shafts didn't give me a consistant ball strike or ball flight. I hope you can order custom shafts. Overall a very nice club that performs very well for its intended market. However I can't see the skilled golfers moving from Taylormades or Titleist Drivers to this due to the high-launch and poor stock shafts.
