What we say...
The Tech:
Over 60% of the Flex’s body is created using Nike’s RZN material that’s lighter than titanium. Nike’s FlexFlight technology allows fine tuning of the centre of gravity from forward to back to influence spin, launch angle, workability and forgiveness.
Our verdict:
The construction of the Flex is very different to any other driver on the market. Half the head’s made from Nike’s thermo-plastic RZN material which means the sound’s much more muted, which two of our testers really enjoyed. The limited edition Diamana BlueBoard shaft’s interesting as there’s kevlar reinforcing under the grip to improve stability. Our test pro hit shots from a 3 x 3.5mm window on the face which at a 115mph club speed is incredibly accurate, and by posting the highest ball speed and carry distance of Nike’s 3 drivers it has to say the shafts tightening up stability beautifully. Switching the FlexFlight pod in the sole from front to back we saw an average of 200rpm spin change and each tester carried shots 4-8 yards further with the weight positioned at the back.
Bottom line:
A two tone head which some haters are bound to question, but we thought it helped alignment sat behind the ball. All in a very hi-tech driver that produced some of the strongest results of any driver on test.
