Cobra King LTD Black Driver: The Tech
The Cobra King LTD Black Driver is essentially the same driver as the original King Ltd, but with a new all black colour scheme and Cobra’s new Connect shot tracking tech installed in the grip.
A 16g “Spaceport” weight in the sole allows you to see inside the head, and helps create a neutral CG location to increase launch angle but also lower spin.
Cobra King LTD Black Driver: Our verdict
Sound can be everything when it comes to drivers. Some golfers love a high pitched ring at impact as every drive sounds like a good one, where others prefer a more muted duller sound as it’s perceived more powerful.
Well the Cobra King Ltd Black driver was certainly more muted than Cobra’s other drivers, and our test pro reckoned the head felt stable no matter where he hit shots on the face. Now we can’t say that Cobra’s neutral CG added yards to our drives (even though it was well above the average driver carry distance) or drastically improved ball speed but it was incredibly consistent pitching drives repeatedly in the high 10% of each testers longest carry distances.
Cobra King LTD Black Driver: Bottom line
It’s hard to say why, but the Cobra King Ltd black wasn’t any testers favourite Cobra driver. It performed very solidly without being exceptional for us. The lack of weight adjustability at a premium price is a bit of a drawback, even if it’s the only driver on the market which lets you see inside the head.
