What we say...

The Tech:

Dual Distance Chambers and a Gravity Core weight allow you to position the centre of gravity closest to your typical impact position for increased energy transfer at impact. There’s also a forged composite crown and R-Moto face which maximises ball speeds.

Our verdict:

Compared to the wider bodied drivers on test the Alpha’s a very different shape. There’s a much deeper face which means the body can’t be as wide and generally less width means less forgiveness. We loved switching the gravity core from toe to heel and high to low, and reckon our best set up was matching the gravity cores heavier end as closely as possible to our impact position on the face. There’s absolutely no doubt when set up properly the Alpha is a powerful beast it produced our joint longest carries of any driver on test, but it also had particularly big drop offs in carry distance for off centre hits meaning its not the most forgiving driver out there.

Bottom line:

If absolute power and distance are your goals the Alpha will certainly deliver, believe us it’s a real brute. The trade-off for the extra power is giving up a bit of forgiveness which many golfers probably shouldn’t entertain.
