Benross Speed 10 Driver Review

Three RIP, HOT and MAX heads offer different trajectories, each with six adjustable face angle settings. 

A Back CG sole Weight moves the Centre of Gravity towards the rear of this Maximum Width Head, helping optimise spin and launch angle for golfers searching for ultimate forgiveness. 

A patented Benross Hosel Adaptor allows the Face Angle to be adjusted from Square to 1°, 2°, or 3° Closed and 1° or 2° Open, allowing every golfer the opportunity to “Dial In” a particular look or shot bias to suit their game.

Tech: Benross’ most technological driver range to date sees six-way face adjustability (three closed and two open settings, plus standard). Reduced crown and sole weight boosts CG positioning, while variable face thickness helps forgiveness. Black Nano Blast finish stymies glare.

Looks: Hot Speed looks classy in matt back with subtle red flashes. The toe zone appears bigger than the heel area, and maybe because of this the club seems to want to sit upright (toe-high). At set-up you can see more of the heel than the toe, making the club look more lofted towards the hosel. Neat hosel adjustment mechanism.

Feel/sound: This driver has good acoustics, giving a pleasing and powerful crack at impact on centred strikes. Off-centre strikes played an understandably more muted tune, giving aural feedback for quality of strike.

Forgiveness: The driver is 460cc, and shaft length is a sensible 45in. The driver’s weight distribution has improved thanks to new plasma-welding techniques. It all shows in solid off-centre strike performance. 

Performance: Hot Speed is the middle loft/spin/MOI of the range (12º), between Rip Speed 10 (10º) and Max Speed (14º). For me, the toe-high look at set-up gave me the feeling I was going to hit the ball left. The club made a lot more sense to me when I adjusted the face to the open settings... and it gave me better results.

Classic shaped head, maybe spoiled slightly by the details on top. Excellent on off-centre hits maintaining high ball speeds from heel and toe. Slightly light swing weight made it feel uncontrollable at times.

Nice matt finish but I didn’t like how the face is rounded and sits forward from the hosel. I needed to add loft to boost distance but had to deal with a closed face. That said, distance and accuracy was superb.
