What we say...
BRONZE AWARD
The Touch is the latest in a long-line of innovative trolleys from PowaKaddy and while it is very different to anything else on test, it wasn’t hard to get used to.
It features the new “touch n go” technology which means you simply push the touch-sensitive handle to move it forward, and pull back to stop it. Simple!
There are no dials or buttons – it’s all in the handle which feels great and once you’ve got over the initial “panic” about controlling the Touch, it really is an impressive bit of kit.
Dave loved the no-nonsense qualities that it offered and commented on the very simple assembly. Jon thought the frame was a little ‘old school’, but this was no bad thing – he also noted how quiet it was. Even when going uphill, the Touch was incredibly easy on the ear!
So what kept this groundbreaking beauty off the top? If we were being slightly picky, we would have liked to see a few more features. There is no display of distance travelled or speed or bright lights – maybe a battery monitor would have sufficed? Great product though at a very affordable price.
There were very few new trolleys launched in 2010, but PowaKaddy did wheel out their latest offering – the Touch.
Now, PowaKaddy also produce a much more “all-singing, all-dancing” product called the Freeway II and while this will appeal to many, we think the beauty of the Touch is that it is so simple to use.
It features PowaKaddy’s new Touch 'n' Go technology which governs the trolley’s movement. Golfers simply depress the touch-sensitive yellow handle to make it move forward and pull it back towards you to stop it.
We tested this at the back end of 2010 and were really impressed. We know it doesn’t feature all the whistles and bells of some of the other electric trolleys but if the thought of a digital screen and complex controls put you off, then this should take your fancy.
