What we like

The price for a start. What is there to dislike about an electric trolley for less than £200? This represents excellent value as long as it works – and happily the Prolite GT coped with pretty much everything we threw at it. The speed dial, although basic, is nicely positioned for either the right or left hand and is pretty responsive to touch.

The 18-hole lead acid battery we used during the test was not too hefty or  cumbersome and it delivered enough power to cope with some pretty wet conditions on the course. An impressive display for such a fantastic price.

What we don’t like

It’s perhaps a little unfair given the low price of the trolley, but the hinges involved in the folding mechanism do feel a little less impressive than some other trolleys. Although the trolley folded down neatly it was a little more awkward to undo the catches than on some of the others, meaning it wasn’t as easy to unfold as we would have liked.

The ‘slick’ wheels also slipped a bit in the wet weather, especially on inclines – meaning the trolley had to be helped up one or two of the hills.

TG VERDICT

Given the low price of the trolley the feedback can be nothing but positive. For less than £200 the positives definitely outweigh the negatives and it’ll be interesting to see how reliable the Prolite GT proves over time.

The E-Caddy Prolite GT has a high grade aluminium frame and is one of the lightest yet strongest trolleys on the market. The powerful whisper quiet 200W motor is more than man enough to handle even the toughest, hilliest of courses without even breaking a sweat.

In just two clicks, the Prolite can be folded and in seconds is compact enough to fit into the smallest of car boots. The folding mechanism also acts as a lock so that when your trolley is folded it can easily be carried with one hand.
