Where we talk about other suits being lightweight, it isn’t that the Ping is heavyweight, it’s just heavier than the rest. Something that is particularly noticeable around the pocket areas, where two layers of fabric create extra bulk.

The turtle-neck design is unusual in waterproofs, but this could prove to be really useful if big flapping necks are your personal pet hate. How effective the collar is against stopping water running down your neck is a matter of debate, but it is something worth considering before diving in with an open wallet just because the jacket looks cool.

The suit does get heavy when saturated, which could be a real pain if you hate how some waterproofs have the tendency to hold water and sag down to your knees in a heavy downpour.

The generous cut is ideal for larger individuals rather than the wafer-thin youths who are into their more fitted attire.
