Best Ladies’ Golf Balls 2024: Enhance Your Game with Precision and Performance

Click below to find out more about Today's Golfer's golf ball testing process.

How We Test Golf Balls

We used a robot at Loughborough University to test golf balls. This ensures consistent, repeatable swings, something human testers can't match, especially across 24 different golf ball models. It took over a week to test and months of prep to make sure everything was perfect.

We tested with different clubs and swing speeds to reflect real-world golfers. Driver shots were at 85, 100, and 115 mph, 7-iron at 80 mph, and wedges at 74 mph, using Ping clubs suited to these speeds.

We also test every golf ball on-course too, to gather feedback on feel and how they perform during rounds.

Exceptionally soft feeling three-piece golf balls

Best soft feeling ladies' golf balls
It may seem odd starting this list without a female-specific golf ball, but who says ladies can't play with (supposedly) men's golf balls? The Soft Response is a great option for ladies of all abilities. This ball works extremely well in all categories, delivering admirable performance from tee to green. As a soft 50 compression golf ball, the Soft Response will work for the vast majority of female golfers and you will enjoy every shot you play.

This ball is very reasonably priced considering it features some of the technology used in the more premium model - TaylorMade Tour Response. Also, it's a three-piece golf ball, which don't tend to be as affordable as the Soft Response. With fantastic long game performance and impressive greenside spin and control this ball is without a doubt an option to consider.

Bridgestone are one of golf's best golf ball manufacturers. Their Lady Precepts are no exception to the fine products they produce. This ball performs very well off the tee and you will most likely add distance by playing with the Lady Precept. The increased distance comes from the 330 seamless dimple pattern which helps to get the ball airborne and add carry. Combined with the soft gradational core, the transfer of energy helps to ensure this ball travels farther.

Being a respectable 50 compression golf ball this is suitable for many female golfers (not for those with quicker swing speeds). The Lady Precept isn't the best performer around the greens, the spin and control isn't as high as other options for ladies. However, you are still presented with a welcomed soft feel from every club in the bag. For ladies wanting to improve their long game performance the Lady Precept should definitely be considered.

TaylorMade's distance option for ladies looking for greater length off the tee

Best distance golf balls for ladies

Rrp: $22.56

Price: $15.83
The Kalea is certainly more than a typical distance ball, but off the tee this TaylorMade golf ball definitely impresses. The Kalea is especially aimed toward female golfers (unlike the Soft Response). If distance is something you prioritize over short game spin and control then the Kalea is definitely a ball to consider. Although, as already alluded to, the Kalea does perform admirably when attacking pins and in the right hands can challenge most golf balls around the greens.

Engineered with female golfers in mind, the Kalea has been designed to launch easier and fly farther to generate more distance while still producing the soft feel many golfers have come to appreciate in a golf ball. You can purchase the Kaleas in either white, matte peach or matte purple. TaylorMade selected these color options (white to suit the traditionalist) because of their visibility and aesthetics - potentially better than pink.

While pink may not be every lady's color preference to sport on the golf course, there will be some who would opt for the bright color. If you're going to play with a pink golf ball, you may as well use a good one. The Srixon Soft Feel Lady golf balls are also available in white (if you don't want to play with a pink ball). They are incredibly versatile and a solid option for female golfers.

Moving away from colors and focusing on performance, the Soft Feel Lady golf balls are very competitive off the tee, delivering long distance and consistent ball flights. With this being such a soft golf ball the feel and response is incredibly high which transpires into the short game, producing impressive spin and control. Despite Srixon recommending this ball to ladies of all swing speeds, it definitely suits those with moderate to slower swing speeds.

The ERC Soft REVA is an exceptional golf ball around the greens, which most golfers will appreciate. The new GRIP urethane coating ensures this ball is very easy to control and delivers high spin rates in the short game. Not only is this ball impressive when approaching the green, but also off the tee. I was surprised by how far this ball travels (considering it's not intended to be used by someone with my swing speed).

With a compression rating of 70, the ERC Soft REVA is aimed at female golfers with moderate to quick swing speeds. However, if you haven't got a particularly quick swing speed but value feel and performance then you won't be disappointed by switching to this golf ball.

Maxfli's low compression golf balls are available in a wide range of colors

Best vibrant ladies' golf balls
Price: $52.11
With a compression rating of 35, this is one of the lowest compression golf balls on the market. An ultra-low compression golf ball will suit the vast majority of golfers, providing the average swing speed among female golfers is roughly 65mph with a driver. Maxfli offers the Softfli in a range of colors - there should be at least one to satisfy your taste.

The Softfli is a very strong performer from tee to green. For those with slower swing speeds the distance is very competitive to other similar golf balls and the dispersion is tight. Around the greens, the ball is very responsive and easy to control. On the greens putting has been made easier from the previous generation thanks to the addition of the precision putting aid.

Titleist don't produce a female-specific golf ball, instead, all of their golf balls are intentionally unisex, perhaps their best golf ball available to female golfers is the Tour Speed, this ball delivers quality performance but doesn't demand a premium price point. The Tour Speed is definitely one to consider for ladies with a quick swing speed because of the higher compression rating (82).

If you are seeking greater distance from a three-piece golf ball there aren't many better options (if any) than the Titleist Tour Speed. The Tour Speed is an excellent alternative to Titlesit's premium range of golf balls- especially if you struggle to keep a ball in play (don't we all)! With a slightly lower ball flight than others, this may not be the best option for every golfer, but it's definitely one to consider - just don't be surprised if you don't get the most action around the greens.

As the world's softest golf ball, the Wilson Duo Soft is one many golfers appreciate hitting. The vast majority of golfers favor a soft feeling golf ball over a firm golf ball, if you're one of those golfers then give the Duo Soft a try. It's more than likely when you're new to the game you won't have the quickest swing speed, having a 40 compression rating and being incredibly soft, this ball is amazing for ladies new to golf.

The Callaway REVA appears to be just a normal golf ball until you compare it to any other in your golf bag. At this point, you'll realize the REVA is slightly bigger (9% to be exact). After noticing it once, you begin to notice it every time. We found it to be confidence boosting and it makes you believe you'll make better contact. Enhancing confidence when using this ball is how easy it is to launch - perfect for golfers who may struggle with ball flight.

Ladies who are new to the game or playing off a high handicap will definitely benefit from playing the REVA, however, that doesn't mean better players can't play with these golf balls. After all, why make the game harder than it needs to be?

Having been in production for 15 years, Bridgestone have nailed the 2023 version of the e6. This ball is very strong from tee to green, providing long distance and tight dispersion off the tee while offering impressive spin and control in the short game. The compression rating of the e6 is 50, which makes this golf ball best suited to those with moderate to slower swing speeds.

Many female club golfers will have a swing speed appropriate for using this golf ball. However, if you have a slightly quicker swing speed then you may want to look elsewhere - the dispersion increases if you swing too fast. Considering this ball performs so well from tee to green it is very good value for money, even if it is a two-piece golf ball.

Best ladies’ golf balls: Buying Guide

How to choose the best ladies’ golf balls

There is a market specifically consisting of female-specific golf balls. However, not all of these golf balls will suit every female golfer. When choosing which golf balls to play with there are several factors to take into consideration. Depending on your wants/needs for your game this will influence which golf balls are best for you. Whether it is a soft low compression golf ball specifically designed for ladies, or a high compression golf ball intended for the best players, always pick the ball most suited to your game rather than the intended user.

Budget

Golf balls can be expensive, but that doesn’t mean you have to pay top dollar to find the best golf balls for your game. There is an abundant list of options that won’t break the bank but will still provide all the performance you need. When outlining a budget consider your ability and choose the balls most appropriate to your skill level, this way you will find the best value golf balls for your game.

Compression

The majority of ladies’ golf balls have a low compression rating, which won’t suit every female golfer. If you do have a moderate to slower swing speed then female-specific golf balls will most likely work for you. However, if you have a quicker swing speed you will benefit from higher compression golf balls which could mean playing with premium golf balls, but it will improve your game and your scores.

Performance

You want to ensure you are getting optimal performance from your golf balls. Every golf ball is slightly different, these differences are amplified from golfer to golfer. If you’re playing with the wrong golf balls they may not be performing well enough for your game – this could have a negative impact on your scores. Playing with the right golf balls is essential to playing better golf, if you’re unsure which golf balls are right for you book a golf ball fitting.

Feel

Whether you prefer a soft feel or a firm feel, there is no right or wrong answer. Feel is 100% personal preference. Some golfers know what feel they want, but if you don’t, play around with different golf balls until you discover if you prefer soft or firm.

Alignment

With putting being so difficult, any additional help is always appreciated. Therefore, brands are affixing enhanced alignment aids to their golf balls to make lining your putts up that little bit easier. If you haven’t tried golf balls with extra alignment assistance give them a go and see what you think. Nothing ventured, nothing gained?

Visibility

Golf balls are available to purchase in all kinds of colors and models. Maybe you’re tired of playing with the same old white golf balls, or you’re struggling to see the ball. Why not try more vibrant golf balls? There’s no shame in using vibrant golf balls, it doesn’t make you a worse player, if anything it might make you improve. Playing with vibrant golf balls may be the change your golf game needs.

Best ladies’ golf balls: FAQs

Do ladies’ golf balls make a difference?

The main difference between (supposed) men’s and ladies’ golf balls is the compression. It’s very rare a female-specific golf ball will have a high compression core. This is because the average swing speed among female club golfers is around 65mph with a driver, which doesn’t warrant a high compression golf ball. However, there are men’s and ladies’ golf balls with lower compression ratings. Therefore, ladies’ are more than entitled to play with any golf ball as long as it suits their game.

How do I choose the right golf ball for my game?

Firstly, you need to be honest with your ability and how well you strike the ball. From there you need to narrow down your options to what will suit the way you play. With the options available to you, try as many as possible until you find the ball you like or the one which helps you play the best golf – hopefully, they’ll be the same ball!

What is a soft golf ball?

A soft golf ball is much more delicate to the touch and doesn’t feel as solid coming off the club face as a firmer golf ball. The majority of golfers favor a softer feeling golf ball because the sensations are much more welcoming.

Can ladies play with men’s golf balls?

In my opinion, all balls are unisex. Ladies can play with men’s golf balls and vice versa. You want to play with the best golf balls for your game. Whether that be a Titleist Pro V1 or a Callaway REVA, as long as your game is heading in the right direction play with whatever ball works.
