What we say...

Long Term Test – Kit Alexander 7 hcap

I tend to use a soft-feel golf ball, on the theory I don’t swing it hard enough to get the benefits of a firmer premium one, so the ONE RZN was the ball I chose. There was plenty of feel around the greens, and there was nothing noticeably short off the
tee either.

But where I think this ball comes into its own is the price – less than £30 per dozen at retail offers value. There’s always a fear of losing a top-end ball; I didn’t feel quite as bad when I drowned a couple of these in as many holes and unless you’re a very good golfer, I’m not sure you’d miss the performance of a more expensive golf ball.

Overall a really good option, but I was less keen on the X version – it felt very firm, and tended to run out a lot more on the green.

2013 Balls Test

JR: Full wedge spun over 9500rpm, more than any other on test. Higher spin with a driver, but good control.

JT: Got a great combination of low spin on full shots and grip on short-game shots. Confidence-boosting.

KA: Impressive for a mid-range ball on long game and short shots. Strong feel and flight with a wedge.

The ONE RZN is the latest addition to the resin-core family Nike launched successfully last year with the 20XI ball. These are cheaper than the premium offerings used on both the PGA and European Tours, but there are similarities.

The faster, lighter RZN material replaces the conventional rubber core, which means the ball offers more control. By refining the formula to increase the size of the core, Nike say they have created better feel off all hits without taking distance off the tee.

Hit longer and straighter shots with softer feel on impact. Also available in RZN-X model.
