What we say...
The PING Hoofer Stand Bag has been around as long as Terry Wogan. It keeps re-inventing itself – we’re on MKII now – but it still commands respect and does an incredibly solid job… a bit like ol’ tel really.
The Hoofer has long been the benchmark when it comes to stand bags. It’s designed purely for carrying around a golf course. The hoof-shaped sole sits it perfectly on the ground when the stand mechanism is operated (which is a bit of a problem if you want it to sit of the back of a buggy occasionally), and everything is designed and positioned for easy access and operation.
Features – The large clothing packet can be enlarged by pulling down a zip to free a flap of extra fabric. Also, it’s the only bag that gives you entry into the bottom of the main club storage area to retrieve tees, balls, Mars bars etc. You also get valuables pocket, drink holder, towel clip and more.
Storage – This has never been an issue. The pocket space is brilliant. You can cram as much as your dare into this bag and it will eat it for breakfast. The ball pocket will hold enough to satisfy even the worst golf games and 14 clubs nestle in the top with room to spare. Very good.
Value – The once-dominant hoofer has some major competition now as bag designs and prices have never been more competitive. I can’t help feeling the hoofer may have had its best days and for £150 there are now alternatives on the market to threaten it.
TG Rating: Superb quality. Has been a benchmark for other manufacturers. Price will restrict its appeal, though.
