Ben Hogan’s range of bags might be small, but I believe the Signature model cart bag is one of the best golf bags on the market.

Right from the start, this bag made a strong impression. The black synthetic leather with quilted side panels looked sleek and very high-end. Compared to my old, well-worn seven-year-old TaylorMade bag, this was a major upgrade in both style and function. Despite its sturdy, premium look, it was surprisingly lightweight and easy to handle – something I really appreciated.

The all-black design is a great choice for golfers who like their gear to look stylish without clashing with their outfit. But beyond the looks, the design is smart and practical. There’s plenty of storage, handy magnetic closures, very deep pockets, and useful features that made organizing my gear simple. One stand-out feature for me was how the trolley straps as secured around the bag. The top front pocket lifts up, for a trolley strap to sit securely against the body of the bag, with the pocket then attached back down with velcro. The materials feel high quality, and everything about the bag suggests it’s built to last. This doesn’t feel like the kind of bag that will start falling apart after a couple of seasons.
Storage & Accessibility: 5/5
With nine generously sized pockets, this bag had all the storage I needed on the course. Balls, gloves, tees, or snacks, there’s a dedicated space for everything. My favourite feature here is the amount of magnetic pockets on the Signature cart bag, I found these incredibly useful and easy to open with a gloved hand if I needed to access something quickly. The zippers work smoothly, and everything is easy to reach whether you’re using a trolley or have the bag on a cart. I packed a full waterproof suit in one of the main pockets, and still had room to spare. The pockets didn’t appear bulky when full either, which gave me the impression the bag would retain its shape well. There are also two magnetic storage areas at the bottom of the bag, a really convenient way of storing drinks bottles during your round, or for keeping items such as rangefinders within easy reach.
Durability & Performance: 5/5
This bag feels really solid, and the synthetic wipe-clean material allowed me to easily remove any mud after a round on a dewy spring morning. The construction is sturdy, and after using it for a few months have no doubts about its durability over time. One of its biggest strengths is its waterproofing – not just the fabric, but the zippers too – so you don’t have to worry about your valuables getting soaked in wet weather. If you’re using a cart, the bag stays put thanks to a cleverly designed liftable front pocket, adding an extra layer of security and stability during your round.
Comfort & Ease of Use: 5/5
One of the most important things in a golf bag, for me anyway, is how easy it is to carry and move around, and this one gets it right. The carry handles are perfectly placed for lifting it in and out of a car, and onto a trolley or a cart. It’s designed to sit securely on both, and everything is well laid out, so I never struggled to find anything I needed mid-round.
Club Organization: 5/5
The Ben Hogan Signature cart bag kept my clubs organized effortlessly with the 14-way divider system. Every club has its own spot, preventing them from getting tangled up or clinking together. There’s also an oversized slot for putters with larger grips, which is a great touch. Overall, there’s more than enough space for a full set of golf clubs, making this bag a great option for players who like to bring every club they might need.
