What we say...
You may think one golf grip is much the same as another but Lamkin disagree and have instead released a new grip specifically designed for the changeable European climate.
The new i6 3GEN features two distinct surface patterns to offer more grip on the underside and a softer, tackier feel on the topside. But can a grip really make that
much of a difference? I’m very particular about the grips I use on my clubs and a regular change can have a massive effect on the feel.
The i6 3GEN are undoubtedly tackier and softer than my old grips and this instantly felt better. I also like its consistency of feel from top to bottom rather than using different materials.
And although they are available in black I loved the colour they injected into my bag with the mix of blue, orange, white and red. The one downside to this is the black tops on the grips, which tend to mark the lighter colours when taking them out the bag. This is particularly true of the white grip, which quickly started to look a little old and worn.
In terms of performance in changeable weather the British ‘summer’ has allowed me to try them in various conditions and I found they retained a good deal of tackiness even during wet rounds. One major plus point was the Lamkin size chart on the website, which allows you to choose the size of grips to suit your hand – but unfortunately there was no mid-size option in the i6 3GEN, so I had to build the grips up with a few layers of tape to get them to the thickness I was after.
Lamkin may be more synonymous with the older generation of golfers thanks to their renowned cord grips and the legendary Crossline, but the i6 3GEN offers a ofter and more colourful option for a new generation of players.
The Lamkin i6 is the latest in a long line of 3GEN golf grip options. The i6 3GEN boasts the confidence of cord without the cost implications of cord golf grips. Lamkin i6 combines two distinct surface patterns to maximise traction and comfort.
The underside of the golf grip features an aggressive hexagonal pattern to promote a slip free connection in any weather condition. The topside features a softer feeling keyhole design that improves contact tackiness without a rough feel through the shot.
