Glynneath Golf Club

Glynneath Golf Club is situated in South Wales and lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park - an area of outstanding natural beauty. The excellent M4 and A465 road links provide easy access for visitors from far and near, including areas such as Birmingham, London and Bristol.

Our eighteen hole golf course measures just under 6,100 yards and plays to a par 71. No hole is the same and every hole offers its own unique challenges. The course has undergone a lot of development in recent years with the introduction of four superb new holes and the modification of various others.  

The course is described as a mix of parkland and woodland, so large mature trees are a very prominent feature on most holes. We also have a number of small lakes on the course and you will encounter these on a number of occasions throughout your round - and we think you will find our large fish quite entertaining as they greet you by the 16th tee.

  I could not agree more with the previous comments. We played this in similar conditions when the courses all around where closed. We were met with a really warm welcome and played the course in the worst conditions imaginable, strong winds and heavy rain. The fairways and greens held up for the most part although the bunkers got a bit damp. What sticks out more than anything else is the great fun behind all the shots you need to play. It is satisfying to have a course not work its way around all the hazards but often through them . The majority of tee shots are so much fun you just want to keep hitting, whether it be over small valleys, streams or even on one hole a line of trees. I had no idea Glynneath had a golf course but I am going back this winter to play it again. It would be good if the sun shone this time but without wishing to tempt fate, the conditions could not be much worse than we have played already...to be honest, I don't care how bad it is, I cant wait!!!

  The term a hidden gem is overused when it comes to describing golf courses, but it is most apt in this case, Myself and my golfing partner had booked in to Celtic Manor for the day but due to heavy rain the course was closed and so we went in search of an open course and found this one. The major dissapointment of not being able to play CM was soon forgotten when we played this little beauty. Fairways and greens were in good condition unlike the bunkers which were poor, however this is a small fault when you start playng this intricate , challenging and hugely enjoyable course. Every single hole has something, a blind drive, avoiding trees, small greens, huge drops from tee to green, avoiding water...it really does have everything, I loved the way that the course was built around the natural landscape, nothing was made easier for you, you have to plot your way around and it makes for great fun. We received a terrific welcome from the gent in the pro shop who could not have been more helpful, and all this for £9 ( with 2fore1). It poured down with rain the whole time we were there but I have rarely enjoyed a round of golf so much, This for pure golfing fun is one of the best courses I have ever played. I urge you to give it a go.
