Borth & Ynyslas Golf Club

What we say

Borth & Ynyslas Golf Club is a quality if underrated links layout that impressively unfolds along the estuary of the River Dovey and offers stunning views across Cardigan Bay. We guarantee you’ll use every golf club in your bag and will receive a warm welcome at the recently extended 19th. Wonderful and traditional out-and-back links overlooking Cardigan Bay. Accuracy off the tee is vital early doors but overall you’ll relish the variety of holes on this par-70 layout featuring several elevated tees and greens and several blind shots.

Borth & Ynyslas Golf Club was founded in 1885, making it one of the oldest in Wales. Famous golf course architecht Harry Colt carried out a re-design soon after 1945 which it bettered as well as being more challenging. Adjoining Borth Beach, the golf course follows the traditional ‘out and back’ design.

Accommodation: The Belle View in Aberystwyth and the Lletycairo which is about four miles away.

  • 4 out of 5 Borth & Ynyslas Gc in Autumn

    By Dave M

We found the club welcoming and booking in with our 241 voucher and details was straightforward. It was good to note that we were given 3rd party liability cover for our round, included in the deal. Unfortunately the clubhouse lounge area did not seem to be open - but then it was the afternoon. We were pleased to see that the course was not too busy and we were able to tee off on time; another advantage being stray shots on such a links course not causing concern. We found the course in good condition and the greens true but fairly testing. The wind was also testing and added to the challenge. We thought the most scenic parts of the course were those holes by the sand dunes. Although our golf scores were not about to break any records this was an excellent day's golf by the sea on the Borth & Ynyslas course.

  • 5 out of 5 Borth and Ynyslas - a gem by the sea

If you want to play a proper links course that's currently in great condition Borth is the place to go this summer. This is not a course for the feint hearted with some mighty tough tee shots especially with the wind off the sea. The greens roll true, take backspin from a high flighted wedge yet still give you the option of traditional links bump and run approaches. Hats off to the greens staff. Cracking.
