Aberystwyth Golf Club

What we say
Aberystwyth Golf Club has been around since 1911 and was the handiwork of six-timed Open champ Harry Vardon so you’d expect something special wouldn’t you? You won’t be disappointed and it’s no surprise this fine meadowland layout is a big hit with holidaymakers and golfers alike.
The course was designed by the legendary Harry Vardon and sits on a lofty headland with striking views of the coastline of Cardigan Bay – as well as Snowdonia at one point. It’s a fun, undulating parkland/meadowland that’s fairly open and set above the town, so is also quite exposed. In fact, Aberystwyth plays more like a links, especially around the greens.
Aberystwyth Golf Club's full golf course was opened in the spring of 1913 after the completion of the 5th and 6th holes, but the official opening didn’t take place until the following summer with the staging of an exhibition match involving then French champion George Duncan and other professionals. Unfortunately golf course designer Harry Vardon had to withdraw after learning of the death of his father after arriving in Aberystwyth.
Accommodation: The Four Seasons and the Marine Hotels in Aberystwyth.
