What we say
The course is a short walk from the picturesque Scottish highland town from which it gets its name.
With wonderful views of the distant Cairngorms, the course splits into three equal sections. The first six holes are over fairly flat and open parkland. It then tightens considerably over the second six, which pass through hilly woodland. And the closing stretch is over undulating parkland.
The undisputed signature hole is the 9th, a 275-yard downhill par-4 that is blessed with a spectacular backdrop of pine trees and the beautiful Cromdale Hills.
The superb food in the clubhouse restaurant is as good as you will find in a golf club.

Situated in the Cairngorms National Park, the course measures 5710 yards, with a par of 70 and Standard Scratch Score of 68.
Though not long, it presents a fair challenge for every calibre of golfer. It is naturally split into three distinct sections - Holes 1 to 6 are played over flat parkland, holes 7 to 12 through moderately hilly woodland, whilst holes 13 to 18 reverts to undulating parkland.
The "signature" hole of the course is Murdie's View, the 275 yard 9th, a short downhill par 4 with the spectacular backdrop of pine trees and the Cromdale Hills, pictured above. When the heather is in bloom on the Cromdales the view is incomparable.
Elsewhere on the course, magnificent views of the Cairngorm range may be observed. Wildlife abounds, and whilst rabbits are kept at bay, roe deer and hare may be seen along with a variety of birds such as peewit, oyster catcher and buzzard.

Superb value and a warm welcome - this is everything you want holiday golf to be and the perfect antidote if you have been buffeted on that Links!

A fantastic little golf club - as soon as we arrived we were made feel welcome with friendly staff who went out of their way to accomodate us. The golf course was immaculate, the tees and fairways were in great condition, perfectly manicured and conjusive to good golf. the greens were simply stunning, I have played a few golf courses over the years and these greens were up there with the best of them. They putted true and quick and reacted well, as well as looking magnificent. The views are stunning with the Cairngorms lying majestically in the background, which adds to the overall enjoyment of playing this course. The course wasn't long and if you are playing well you could yield a good score. It was easy on the feet, and after having a lovely bowl of homemade soup after the round I could have played another 18 quite easily. One of the staff in the clubhouse did say to us before we went for our 18 holes - that after we had played our round we would want to come back again. She ain't wrong!

Grantown is a very well maintained course with a mixture of newish fairly open holes together with some mature and complex holes. The ninth hole (Murdie's View) is one of the most beautiful that I have ever seen, swooping spectacularly down from the tee to the fairway and then up to the green, all completely separated from other parts of the course by mature forest. Some holes give the impression of trying to cram a quart into a pint pot but overall it is a nicely testing course which is not too difficult for the higher handicapper and accompanied by some lovely scenery.
