What we say
With a par of 68 and a little more than 5,000 yards in length, quirky Dufftown is a short and sweet course that is great fun.
Dufftown’s flagship hole is undoubtedly the 10th, which Sam Torrance includes in his fantasy 18-hole course. The elevated tee for the 467-yard par-4 stands 1,213 feet above sea level, providing magnificent scenic views of the surrounding Grampian countryside, and a fantastic driving opportunity to a wide, lush green fairway, through a natural closing, created by the well-established fir trees, running the length of this excellent hole.
Though quite hilly – buggy hire is recommended – this course is a little gem and well worth a visit for the 10th tee shot alone.
All holes have different playing tactics due to the undulation of the course. From the first tee the course appears to climb for the first two holes, but once you are on the second green any inclines after that are not too noticeable. Your thoughts are taken up with the challenge the course sets and the superb scenery. Overall the experience is of rolling fairways lined with heather and heath.
The 7th hole is one of the shortest holes in Scotland at 67 yards off the visitors tee across a deep gully and has been described as a testing picturesque little hole. The 9th tee is one of the highest in the UK at 1,294 feet above sea level, while the stunning 10th tee stands at 1,213 feet with a magnificent view of the town and has a vertical drop of 339ft from tee to green.

Played here on a Society Day. 2 Rounds with power trolley but was exhausted by completion of second round. Course is great value for money, well kept and has exceptional views from almost all parts of course. The catering by Mr Kevin Brum was by far the best food I have had on a society outing, cooked to perfection and extremely well presented. Highly recommended, will definately be playing here again.
