Scotscraig Golf Course

What we say
Scotscraig ranks in the top 20 of our Golf World Top 100 Courses £60 and Under.
A regular final qualifying course for The Open and the 13th oldest club in the world, Scotscraig dates is a heathland/links mix that dates back to 1817.
Just 15 minutes from St Andrews, it laid out on sandy, linksy turf and guarded by proper pot bunkers and gorse, but there is also a heathland feel by virtue of the trees and heather. A serious challenge, especially when the wind blows.

Arriving late in the afternoon, we were greeted by the Pro, who had taken our booking earlier in the month. He gave us some playing tips for the course, and a "spare" Open Final Qualifying Strokesaver. After only two holes it was clear that this is an excellent test of golf, and as the round progressed it became even more clear that the guys who qualify for Opens at St Andrews from here have played some golf to do so. Strongly recommended if you are in the St Andrews area, and even if you are not, Scotscraig might just be good enough to make a special trip worthwhile.

A nice course used as an Open qualifier I think. Good condition but that's true of most Fife courses.
