Fairmont St Andrews (Kittocks Course)

What we say
The Kittock’s may be overshadowed by the neighbouring Torrance course… but what a great back-up! Like the Torrance the Kittock’s has undergone significant changes since Gene Sarazen’s original design including a name change (it was formerly ‘The Devlin’). And, arguably it offers the most dramatic holes at this five-star venue with several skirting the clifftops and affording stunning St Andrews and coastal vistas. There’s a fantastic finale too – a clifftop par-3 16th followed by a demanding par 4 running alongside the cliff edge with water down the left side.

The Kittocks Course is a testament to Bruce Devlin's design experience and expertise. It is a truly magnificent 72 par, 7,049 yard championship golf course that sweeps its way along the rugged seaside landscape.
This as yet, undiscovered gem begins by innocently easing the golfer into a false sense of security, offering wide, well manicured fairways that wind around man-made water features and risky bunkers, teasing the golfer with a mix of par fours and fives.

From the moment we arrived, the tall dark handsome young man in the pro shop was AB FAB, so helpful and gave us so much useful information to assist us to enjoy our round of golf. The Kittocks was much enjoyed by my husband and myself, so much so that my husband is determined to come back, maybe it was because he wants to redeem his loss to myself!!! Weather was beautiful, scenery across the bay fantastic and the course was in GREAT CONDITION for this time of the year, and me being a "canny scot" the price was GREAT value for MONEY.

Staying in the Hotel for 2 nights for a work do and travelling from the North West of England we had to play at one of these courses. After calling the pro shop prior to our stay we decided to play the Devlin. We were not disappointed. The 2 guys in the pro shop were very friendly and would do anything to help. It was one of the most spectacular courses I have played (except for Monte Mayor, ESP)and I think by far the longest. At times I forgot to watch my colleagues putt out due to the spectacular scenery. Due to time of year the fairways were a little soggy and greens a little bumpy but that made it even more a challange. These down sides apart I would love to play it in the summer. After 4 hours of golf and carrying my bag I needed a few beers and the hotel is a fab place to relax. Cant wait to go back.
