Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club

What we say
A somewhat bland opening hole does nothing to suggest the fireworks which are to come. There are some spectacular holes along the cliffs and if you aren’t entertained by the Dunskey course here, we reckon you might be playing the wrong sport.
The course was designed by Charles Hunter of Prestwick and opened in 1903. It was revised in 1912, when the nine-hole Dinvin was added. A course of impressive consistency, it begins and finishes with holes that are inland in nature and perfectly enjoyable. But the highlight is a really memorable spell when you are perched right on the cliffs – a section of genuine GB&I Top 100 quality. The 13th, Sandeel, is magnificent, playing along the cliff edge for 293 yards of gorgeous golf. Driveable, but OB left and several bunkers add peril. On a summer’s evening, this is an absolute joy.

With both a full 18-hole course and a par-3 nine hole course, Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club offers the best of both worlds. The Dunskey course is a great par-70, 5,913-yard test with several holes sitting alongside the cliffs. The par-3 Dinvin course was previously a part of the 18-hole course before redevelopment and is a fun round of golf that only takes just over an hour. It is perfect to hone your short game with some testing chips and greens.

Been coming to Port Patrick for 24 years - getting better and better - pro and bar staff excellent - excellent greens - can't be faulted.

Some truly great holes in amongst a great course. Fairways were springy, the greens excellent and the scenery was spectacular. Although it looks short on the card played off white tees it's a real test and the wind makes it harder. Some really tough par 3s and the 3rd is a great par 5. Plenty of blind shots and risk and reward out there on the shorter par 4s.
