Newburgh-on-Ythan Golf Club

What we say

Click here to find out where Newburgh-on-Ythan ranks in Golf World's Top 100 Golf Resorts Europe

Newburgh-on-Ythan is situated close to the meting of the River Ythan and the North East coastline. At 6,423 yards, this course is a fair test for golfers of all abilities.
After extending the course in 1996, the outward nine holes is characterised by lots of hills and elevated tees requiring a range of shot-making. The inward nine is the original nine holes and is the classic Scottish links test demanding accuracy over brute force.
Often noted for it's spectacular views and the quality of it's greens, Newburgh-on-Ythan rarely closes due to the weather and was open over 350 days last year.
The new clubhouse was opened by Paul Lawrie in 2001.

  • 5 out of 5 Well worth a visit

    By Tiger

8 of us played in June in fairly breezy conditions The soup and sandwich deal is well worth a fiver and pre-order a trolley if you need one The course layout is very interesting, the undulating front nine has some great golf holes and the flatter back nine is superb with several quite memorable holes, get a course planner to help with the odd hidden obstacle !! Our group scored well as the fairways are forgiving and the bunkering is sparse, overall it is a fantastic test of golf and not as arduous as near neighbours Cruden Bay and Trump and terrific value, highly recommend a visit.

  • 4 out of 5 Hidden Gem!

Considering we played in November the course was in good condition. On the short holes we were playing off of artificial tee boxes (which i'm never a fan of) but it never spoiled the holes. Front 9 is a good challenge with a few good holes and a drivable par 4 that would take a brave shot as the fairway is so narrow. The back 9 is brilliant. A lot more of a links feel than the front and the surroundings are breathtaking. Worth a visit!
