What we say
The West Wilts golf course features many 'links' characteristics on account of its location 200m above sea level. Inspiring downs views surround the golf course and the elements can play a key role during a round.
The par 70 layout golf course is 5,754 yards long and its relatively small greens can seriously test any player's short game.

Nice and friendly people and a good location up on the hilltop near Warminster. The chalky land allows excellent drainage and you can tell its a very old course - everything looks very well established. The wind will play a part even on 'calm' days, and you must be accurate with your approaches to the small greens. It has a links style, with lots of lumps and bumps and costly bunkers - its rare to get a 'level' lie on any fairway due to the slopes! The greens and tees were very well maintained (April 2009) and the clubhouse was nice. Unfortunately it just didn't have any wow factor, and I'm struggling to think of any holes that'll get you at all excited from the tee. Its a challenging course, but not one of my favourites in the area.

Horrible weather, still managed 9 holes before giving up because of the driving rain. The course stayed remarkably dry throughout though.
