What we say
A mature picturesque layout with fantastic greens. Southfield is a golfing jewel with stunning views of Oxford’s gleaming spires from the fourth. It’s usually in tip-top shape too, the highlight being the 199-yard, par-3 12th – provided you thread your long iron through the eye of a needle to the green.
Set within 3 miles of the Oxford city centre and with views of the city's 'dreaming spires', this undulating parkland course with many fine mature trees and an abundance of wildlife will provide the visitor with a delightful golf experience in beautiful surroundings. It is an area that is steeped in history, with golf first being played here in 1873. The course as we see it today was designed in the early 1920s by Harry Shapland Colt. Colt chose to incorporate some of the original holes laid out by James Braid, which gives this course one of the finest pedigrees possible in golf course design.
