Great Hadham Golf & Country Club

What we say

Great Hadham Golf Club was founded in 1993 and is developed on 240 acres of natural rolling farmland. The course is set in the beautiful undulating countryside of East Hertfordshire with spectacular panoramic views. Unusually for a course in Hertfordshire, it is laid out on meadowland, which perhaps explains its appeal amongst so many golfers in the region.

With the 18 holes totaling 6854 yards, the course at Great Hadham Golf Club is amongst the longest in the region and so will command your utmost attention. This will no doubt be music to the ears of the bigger hitters amongst you. However, whilst you will relish the opportunity to really let rip from the tees, be aware of the hazards that are scattered all around the course especially the well known long rough - stray shots very rarely go unpunished.

The club has excellent facilities including a 15 bay covered driving range , gymnasium and club shop that sells spares and undertakes repairs of equipment. 3 PGA professionals are available for group and individual tuition as well as video analysis.

I was looking for a club to join and they offerred me a free round with my son before I took the leap as I'd not played there. that was very nice of them and the staff at reception were really good. But, you go there to play golf. I'm so relieved I got the chance to play free. Granted there is a lot of work fgoing on to create a new Par 3 course, but several of the fairways were flanked by mud and rubble marked as ground under repair. The greens should've been a lot better though  ... no excuses. They were bumpy and have shallow grooves running along every one of them bar the first. even my son commented on how poor they were compared to a public par 3 we go on. I won't be joining and won't be heading back there for some time. My advice ... Get it cheap, better still free, or look elsewhere.

Great Hadham has a great feel about it; members seemed friendly and people were happy to help. A decent, if unspectacular, driving range was a welcome sight before the round, as was the practice putting green. As for the course itself, it never really gets going. There are some great holes; the long, uphill par-four seventh and the par-five 11th were the star holes, but there were many holes that just didn't cut it. The par-three 13th (just too short) and the par-four fourth (downhill hole ruined by sloping green from front to back) were two of my least favourite. But it was in great nick when I played and, despite some frustrating holes, the course is a nice place to play.
