Brocket Hall's two 18-hole championship courses set in stunning 18th century parkland are famously named after the prime ministers who once resided there, Lord Melbourne and Lord Palmerston. Opened in 1992, the par-72 Melbourne Course is set in magnificent surroundings, crossing the River Lea several times before a memorable finish in front of the hall after a short ferry ride to the 18th green. In contrast, the Palmerston Course - designed by Donald Steel - is a challenging par-73 woodland layout, with rare Hornbeam, Scots and Corsican pine and 300-year-old oak trees creating a memorable test for professionals and amateurs alike, and is ranked in the latest ‘Top 100 Golf Courses in England' by Golf World. Situated within 22 acres of woodland, the Palmerston Academy boasts a complete range of exceptional practice facilities. Golfers can hone their skills on a mixture of its par-three short course, extensive driving range area and indoor golf studio.

Visitors to Brocket Hall’s Palmerston Academy will soon benefit from the hall’s new partnership with the AimPoint green reading system used by a collection of the world's top players. Run by top teaching professional Jamie Donaldson, the AimPoint tuition programs, which focus on the science behind reading greens, are now available to both members and visitors at the Hertfordshire venue. Ladies world number one Stacy Lewis, Major winners Justin Rose and Padraig Harrington, and the victorious 2011 Solheim Cup squad have all used the highly regarded system.

Donaldson said: "Brocket Hall is the perfect choice for me as the facilities are the best I have used in the UK. The greens are varied and have a pure surface which allows me to create just about any scenario to test the best players' putting abilities. Stay and play

  Having read up on this course - couldn't wait to get there! The Hotel was very tradition English - comfortable and well designed. The restuarant was fantastic as one would expect from a Michelin Stared restuarant with wonderful service...that enough of that - Golf was the reason why we were here. Free use of the academy before the round of golf was useful and started the day well....being a day member (how they term visitors) felt nicer then just there for a round of golf. Before we started - we met several members there also waiting for their tee times. They were all very friendly and made us feel 100% welcome. The whole course, Tees, Fairways, bunkers, water Hazards and Greens were amazing - and with the stunning backdrop....WOW!!!!! After the round, we were asked if we wanted our clubs and shoes cleaned for free...very tempted but had to pass as our second dinner reservation was close. All in all - with the huge discounts that are now available here - this is a MUST play on anyones list...I promise you, you will not be disappointed, whether you eat here, sleep here or play golf. Now to plan my next visit here!

  There are few golf clubs in the world as grand as Brocket. The two course set up is set within a huge country estate, complete with a grand main house. Both courses are great and very different with one long strategic and championship-like, while the other is quirky, beautiful and plays over the river several times. This place is a hidden gem and a real treat.

  Very impressive as you enter the driveway and past the extensive practice facilities. Nice clubhouse and pro shop. Standing on the first tee my expectations were high. Tees and greens were excellent but the remainder of the course although in good condition did not blow me away. Have played better courses this year!

  This is possibly the best in Herts and surrounding area... Worth every penny of the expensive green fee. Both courses are totally different and totally testing. Only downside being the snobbery of some of the members,,, especially those not even playing, but poncing around the bar area
