The Dorset Golf and Country Club – Lakeland/Parkland Course

What we say
This fast-emerging resort provides three Hawtree-designed loops of nine holes supported by accommodation either in the Dormy House or attractive wooden lodges hidden away in the woods. The nines are all contrasting with the Woodland with its tight fairways – many flanked by dense Rhododendron bushes – easily being the most eye-catching.
Designed by Martin Hawtree, The Dorset Golf and Copuntry Club boasts 3 golf courses. These are the Lakeland, Parkland and Woodland courses play as three loops of nine and have been chosen to host many championship events. With four sets of tees, the golf course runs to 7,000 yards off the championship tees and 6,000 yards.
From the tee of the day, making it an excellent test for players of all standards. The 27 holes boast USGA-specification greens and there are no hills. With 14 lakes in play and fairways lined with rhododendrons and trees, this is truly a fantastic place to play.

Not the longest course, but does offer plenty of risk/reward options. When we played it in early May the greens could have done with another cut, but the course was in good nick, and surprisingly dry - almost worryingly if there was a hot summer. The pace of play was excellent too, with 3 and 4 balls round in 3hr30 - a rarity these days, so compliments to the rangers. Finally, the welcome and hospitality from all the staff was excellent, as were the facilities. Well worth a visit.

Great course, almost a linksy feel to it without the tight fairways and penal rough. Bunkering is excellent and well-positioned which I found to my cost!! Loved the US Open style wispy grass bordering the bunkers too. Greens were lovely and true. Altogether a class act ..... very nicely surprised

I've organised society weekend's here for the past 4 years and we never tire of returning. With 27 top qulity holes set in a beuatiful setting its a great place to play. Add to that a fatastic set of accomodation options - the swiss lodges are stunning, and brilliant value - and wonderful helpful staff and you can't go wrong. Back on the course the Lakeland/Parkland 18 is full of variety and challenge whilst the slightly shorter Woodland 9 (a real 9 not a par 3) is like a mini-Augusta with its masses of Rhodededruns.
