What we say
A wonderful Braid links which probably doesn’t get the attention it deserves. Situated on a spit of land in the mouth of the Exe estuary in a beautiful nature reserve, this delightful South Devon layout boasts a great set of greens and breathtaking views.
More Top 2-FORE!-1 links courses
For over one hundred years, players of all abilities have enjoyed the challenge of links golf in this uniquely beautiful place. Founded by the Earls of Devon in 1892 and situated on a sand spit that seperates the Exe estuary from the sea, the largely level, 18 hole, duneland course offers views of sea, estuary and rolling hills. Equidistant between the historic cathedral city of Exeter (12 miles), Torquay, and the market town of Newton Abbot, the course can be easily reached by car (on course parking), by rail (Dawlish Warren station 100 yards from the first tee) and by a regular and frequent bus service. A benign micro climate and our sandy soil usually enable the course to enjoy golf for 365 days a year. It almost never closes!
Please note: Soft Spikes are preferred

This really is a great course, with some outstanding views, and accessible to all standards of golfer, although I would imagine that the low handicappers (not myself!) would be able to shoot very close to par given that a number of the greens are driveable. The club house is cosy with a well stocked bar and food menu. Green fees are very reasonable. Finally the course generally, and particularly the greens, drain exceptionally well making for a fast course.
