Mannings Heath (Kingfisher Course)

What we say
A worthy second string to the members-only Waterfall, the Kingfisher opened in 1996 and is plotted within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Plus it boasts USGA-spec tees and greens.
You’ll love the stylish, luxurious Tudor mansion clubhouse which dates back to the 17th century. Facilities include an award-winning restaurant, plush bar with satellite TV, spacious pro shop, superb changing rooms, plus private dining and function rooms.
Superbly located in 500 acres of Sussex downland, Mannings Heath is quite simply one of the finest golf clubs in England. Two different championship golf courses and a clubhouse that dates back to the 17th century make it the ultimate destination for golfers though nowadays you need to be a member or a guest of a member to tee it up on the Waterfall. Each golf course has its own individual playing characteristics. The Waterfall was established in 1905 and is set in mature woodland with streams and tree-lined fairways. The Kingfisher, with its stunning views, follows the banks of the 14 acre Hawkins Pond on several holes.
The 19th Century cottage Fullers, at Mannings Heath has been beautifully restored, providing accommodation for up to 8 people, a private garden, TV & DVD, free WiFi and full use of the clubhouse facilities including the AA Rosetted Restaurant, Spike Bar and steam room.

I have been playing weekly on the Kingfisher for about 3 years now using 2 fore 1 vouchers which I believe is great value for a course of this type. Great for newbies but still challenging for the better players. Played all the year round and found that despite our winter to-date have not been stopped playing by the club. Staff are great and coaching is well worth the Money, compliments to Andy as Head Coach. Not in a position to become a member but would certainly consider Manning Heath as my first option.

Recently played Kingfisher course for the first time having played many times on the sister Waterfall course. I was impressed initially by the layout of the course set in mature downland Sussex. You play the first 3 holes and then walk through the woods to play several holes surrounded by stunning forest. The 6th hole is a challenging par 4 that is bordered throughout by forest and runs along the valley . Exceptional vistas on each hole which add to the enjoyment of an interesting and testing course. Green were in very good condition and fairways and aprons were a pleasure to play from. Spoke to several of greenstaff who were very friendly and seemed to take pride in their course. Good test of golf in great setting .

From the moment i walked into the clubhouse I knew this place was special. My first visit to Mannings was exceptional. The bar staff were extremely friendly and the pro shop were really helpful. Although it rained the course held up well and i was mightly impressed. The greens were exceptional although I did find them tricky with all the humps you have to read. The course was interesting, and had a nice blend of tight and open holes. Some holes you really have to think where you are placing your shot and others you can have some fun gripping and ripping it!!! Due to the rain, we got extremely wet and the pro-shop informed us that there were towels we could use in the changing rooms. This was brilliant. The showers were awsome and the facilities were top class. We then had something to eat. I had a burger and it was delicious. The staff were amazing and I thoroughly recommend playing here. Great value for money and a truly great expereince!!!!!

Very nice well kept course but staff were unhelpfull. Price is advertised on there website as £17.50 sat after 1pm, stated 241 when booking so asumed this would be the price for 2 people only to be charged this each on arrivel. (bit of a con shame i wasn't told this when booking as left with a bit of disapointment after good round of golf.)

Played the Kingfisher today during their Open Week. £12.50 included 18 quality holes of golf and a sandwich in the trendy spike bar afterwards. What unbelievable value! My friends and I absolutely loved the course and the amazing clubhouse facilities and friendly staff afterwards were the icing on the cake. This place represents real value and in todays world isn't that what we are all looking for!! Definitely recommended...

Using 241 at £15 this is cracking value. The course is great , starts you off gently then stops flattering you. Loved the 8th . Clubhouse is cool.

Really Good Value for money - £17.50 in the winter and only £15 a man if you use your 241 vouchers. Was a nice course, can really go at the pins (nice and responsive). My dad has also played the Waterfall too and that is splendid by all accounts. Anyway - get your society there or just a few mates for a pleasant day. Food is great too - plenty of choice.
