Haywards Heath Golf Course

What we say
Haywards Heath's 18-hole golf course was opened in 1924, the product of an enthusiastic local community and the imagination of the legendary master golfer of the era, James Braid.
Over the years, many changes have occurred, the club's current design advisor being Donald Steele. The outcome of over 80 years of golfing history is a 6,216 yard layout that demands accuracy and judgement rather than power though it's true that on several holes, long hitters will have an advantage.

I've been playing this course after joining on a 2 for 1 membership deal. I will not be rejoining or playing it again after this month! The actual rules of the game are simply not adhered to, replaced by made up on the spot rules by senior members. These members are rude, arrogant & very insulting at times. The Secretary is not interested in the views of newer or younger members, just his senior & long standing members. The shop staff are, however very helpful & welcoming. Will be taken my £1400 a year elsewhere, along with many others!

Bit old fashioned in terms of attitude. (ie largely retired). Seems to be a bit of a cliquie ie things run things to suit them and everyone else has to fit in

The course gives many different challenges, hills, trees and undulating greens. Good T distances and chances to get on the green in a clean sweep. 7th and 9th are great opportunity to try out accuracy and overal the course presents continuous interest.
