Sunbury Golf Club

Sunbury Golf Centre is an established golfing complex, comprising of 27 holes and a 32-bay floodlit driving range. The 18-hole golf course is a testing par 68, which measures 5103 yards. The signature holes appear early in the round at the 6th and 8th. They run parallel to a well-defined lake that requires an accurate tee shot and a delicate approach. The nine-hole academy course measures at just over 2400 yards and is an ideal layout for you to improve your game. The driving range has 32 bays and is fully floodlit. You can arrange to have private tuition with one of the PGA professionals any day of the week. Alternatively you can pop down to the club and enjoy a bucket of balls.

FootGolf at Sunbury

Sunbury has now created a permanent, full-length 18-hole FootGolf course around its existing 9-hole short course. At the moment, FootGolf can be played there after 1pm each Sunday, although the golf centre plans to increase availability in 2015.

FootGolf is a hybrid of golf and football, in which size 5 footballs and 21-inch cups replace normal golf balls and holes. Just as in golf, players attempt get the ball into the hole in as few shots as possible but, unlike golf, the human body provides the only permissible equipment: namely, your feet.

“Hundreds have already played our new FootGolf course in its first month” said the golf centre’s Karl Hodge. “FootGolf is growing fast across the UK, and no wonder – it is ridiculously good fun, anyone can play it, and you can wear what you like. It generally takes just over an hour, and anyone who can kick a ball – including toddlers – is welcome to come and have a game! It’s especially good for families and groups of friends”.

Footballs are supplied by the golf centre, and a round of FootGolf costs £14.50 at Sunbury Golf Centre (£10 for under-16s).

  I have played at Sunbury several times and found it to be a well-run, well-maintained course and pro show/club-house. I played the 18 holer a few weeks back and found it to be in good condition, fairways in decent nick and the greens running true. Sometimes in the summer, the course can get very dry and cracked. No fear of that happening this year ! The best holes are the 6th and 8th, both running alongside the lake.The 6th, in particular is tricky, with OOB on the left and the lake on the right. Even a good straight drive leaves a slighly daunting short iron over the end of the water onto a small green. The par 3 10th hole is one that always gives me problems - a stream runs to the right and lost ball territory bushes to the left.  Although not the most memorable or challenging of courses, Sunbury does offer a very pleasant round and they take 2-fore-1 vouchers after 11am on weekends, so can be excellent value for money.          There is a range and

  Short course with few trees, narrow parallel fairways with many mounds separating, greens a little firm and wooly and slow, sand needs topping up, rabbits aplenty

  The only downside of this course is its length, but if your unfit you will love it, the 6th par 5 has a big lake on the right and out of bounds to the left, nice drive onto the landing zone mid iron on to the green, i have tried it 20 odd times and succeded twice, nice t's and greens, the rough's not to thick, and they do a nice nutty flavoured coffee
