Nizels Golf & Country Club

What we say

Nizels has developed into one of the Garden of England’s most popular inland courses after opening in 1992. Plotted on high ground overlooking heavily wooded countryside, the par-72 course is fast maturing and both looks – and plays – handsomely.

More Top 2-FORE!-1 parkland courses

Established in 1992, an historic estate that dates back to 1397, Nizels is situated on high ground overlooking Kentish Weald countryside. The golf course design is the epitome of a classic English parkland golf course. Complementing the golf course is a modern and friendly health & fitness club.

The club’s 18-hole Championship golf course was developed using the natural contours of the countryside and every feature has been enhanced to add character to each hole. Complementing the golf course are several lakes that make the Par 72 a tough challenge, and also provide a natural habitat for geese, swans and other wildlife.

  • 1.5 out of 5 Disappointed

After seeing the Henry Cooper challenge was being played on this course on Sky Sports made the short trip to Nizels expecting great bthings. Sadly I was disappointed. Like previous comment open trenches, tees and greens terrible. Save your money go elsewhere

  • 2.5 out of 5 Not the beauty it was meant to be

First time we'd played this one and won't be back till they get it sorted. Open trenches across fairways, sand thrown around by the barrow load in a vain attempt to provide relief from the mud, bunkers sodden and hard packed sand, obviously been overplayed in the wet......... only saving grace was the superb condition of the greens. Could be really good with some decent drainage work. Shame. It's all there but needs some TLC

This was the second time I've played The Nizels hoping it to be a lttle drier than the first occasion one summer some 7 years ago when the course was very wet. Given it hasn't rained for 10 days I was disappointed to be sloshing through the mud (clay base). My kit has come home caked in mud and needs a good clean. The format of 5 par 3s, 5 par 5s and 8 par 4s is enjoyable. There are some lovely views but I came away thinking that the whole experience was spoilt by the muddy conditions on both the fairways and in the semi-rough. Greens were in top condition and fast for February. Being a corporate owned 'country club', golf is one of a number of activities on offer and therefore the golf 'experience' is not quite there. I played with a member on a Sunday and the round took us nearly 5 hours. 4 balls and 2 balls were mixed on the same side of the course. Green fee at £25 was a little steep. Next time I'm in Kent I'll suggest we play somewhere else.

Lovely and natural. A bit short and tight in places, but worth a visit
