Royal Eastbourne Golf Club

What we say
If you’re a first-time visitor to ‘The Royal’ then you should expect the unexpected: not only is the course a picturesque downland layout that provides breathtaking inland and coastal vistas, it throws up one surprise after another, including a string of ‘blind’ shots, back-to-back par 5s and, unusually to round-off, consecutive par 3s.
The Royal Eastbourne Golf Club was founded in 1887, the year Queen Victoria celebrated her Golden Jubilee, and following patronage by her grandson, Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence, the title Royal was conferred by the Queen in October, 1887.
'The Royal' can rather appropriately be found down Paradise Drive and is a smash hit with golfing holidaymakers in the summer, but, as it's based on chalk, it's free-draining and therefore a top year-round venue.
Accommodation: There's an on-site cottage catering for up to four people. Selected local hotels: The Lansdowne and the Chatsworth.
