Roundhay Golf Course

What we say
It’s a couple of miles from heralded Alwoodley and shares similar land, meaning it’s a beautiful parkland with hints of heathland. The 4th is a wonderful par-5 to a green guarded by a pond.
Established in 1922, Roundhay Golf Club, adjacent to Roundhay Park, offers a 9 hole municipal parkland course. The course features fairways lined with mature trees, as well as a large number of strategically placed bunkers, making the course a challenge for golfers of all abilities.

Roundhay Park Golf Course is a great 9 holer. Quite wide fairways and rewarding for even a short hitter like me. The 2nd/11th is (for me) the most difficult hole on the course to get anywhere near a par!. The 6th/15th being a highlight par 4, having to tee off from a raised tee over trees down onto the fairway. It's a well looked after, friendly municipal course.

Having played Roundhay many times it on paper looks an easy one and for some it will be. I like the different holes, styles that this course offers, I can't think of one hole that is a filler. Some McKenzie style greens, wide fairways and good for beginners and experience players a like, very mature so the course drains well, the green usually good but kept long for the public traffic on them. Main issues are slow over 18 holes, waiting greens not clearly marked for safety but they are minor points.. Overall a cracking course for £15 a WE, £13 a WD and they also have offers on that we used , £10 for 9 holes after 4 and get a pint and sandwich as well, you can't beat that for an after work knock about.
